Glasgow Friends of Ben Lomond share their John Muir Award experience through photography
Glasgow Friends of Ben Lomond is a National Trust for Scotland volunteering group for men from Glasgow experiencing or recovering from mental health problems. The group regularly visit Ben Lomond in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park to undertake conservation work as a way to help improve wellbeing through green exercise.
The John Muir Award offered a way to recognise the hard work and dedication of the participants, but also a structure for them to spend time engaging more deeply with the environment at Ben Lomond, taking time to develop an awareness of the biodiversity and history of the landscape, and to consider their impact upon it.
