Scottish/American naturalist, writer, climber, inventor, conservationist and campaigner John Muir would have been 180 years old on Saturday 21 April 2018.

John Muir was instrumental in establishing the world’s first National Parks system in America in the early 1900s (the first Park came earlier). Year of Young People aims to inspire Scotland through celebrating young people's achievements and valuing their contribution. 5. Visit John Muir's Birthplace, Dunbar
Discover how the boy born in this house in Dunbar, East Lothian, became one of the driving forces behind the global conservation movement. Visit between April 20-22 and celebrate John's 180th Birthday by making your very own John Muir Beard! .
