Local Members' Gathering | 21 and 22 October
We will gather once again in the North West of England on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October.
On Saturday we will have a full afternoon of talks with a focus on the Trust's lease of Glenridding Common. We will be welcomed by Peter Pearson, the Chair of the John Muir Trust followed by Pete Barron, the Trust's Lake District Ranger, who will introduce us to Glenridding Common.
There will be plenty of time to discuss opportunities for members to engage on the ground in the coming years and discussions will continue over tea and biscuits. The day will finish with a talk by Mike Innerdale, Assistant Director (North West) at the National Trust.
On Sunday we will have the opportunity to visit Glenridding and will be given a guided tour of the site by Pete Barron.

Conservation week | 23 - 27 October
Restoring Hardknott Forest, Duddon Valley
Spend five days (Monday 23rd - Friday 27th October) restoring one of England's largest areas of semi-natural woodland, planting native trees and removing non-natives whilst also getting the chance to observe and monitor local wildlife (the week will include a half day off to enjoy local walks and wildlife). Plus there will be opportunities to discuss and learn about landscape-scale ecosystem restoration.
There is a local pub (Newfield Inn) just a short walk through the woods and we have the exclusive use of Wallabarrow Camping Barn for the whole week (evening of Sunday 22nd to morning of Friday 27th October).
Costs will be £70 which includes food and accommodation. Further details will be provided on booking. NB There is no easily accessible public transport and you will need your own transport, but we will encourage car sharing where possible.
