Energy minister responds to Stronelairg query

Reply from Fergus Ewing MSP, Minister for Energy, Enterprise & Tourism, to Trust letter expressing concern at approval of Stronelairg.

The Trust has received a reply from Fergus Ewing MSP, Minister for Energy, Enterprise & Tourism, to a letter expressing our concerns over his decision to approve the planning application for the Stronelairg wind development in the Monadhliath Mountains.

In his reply, Mr Ewing states: 'With regards to your observation that the application should have been considered at a Public Local Inquiry (PLI), I carefully considered the option of a PLI as part of that determination. I took all objections, including that of the JMT, and all material considerations into account, and considered that were no significant issues which had not been adequately considered in the application, environmental information, consultation responses, and third party representations and that I had sufficient information to be able to make an informed decision on the application without the need for a PLI.'

The Trust does not consider that its serious concerns have been addressed and is awaiting legal advice regarding the possibility of taking a Judicial Review.
