Wild Words celebration at George Fisher

The John Muir Trust invites people to celebrate landscape and culture at an event in the famous George Fisher store

Wild Words at Keswick

Photographer Rob Fraser and writer Harriet Fraser of Cumbria-based ‘somewhere-nowhere’ will be sharing their unique take on landscape, nature and language in Keswick this weekened. Those attending the event are invited to join the duo afterwards for a drop-in creative session.

Ross Brannigan, the Trust's Engagement Officer, said: “Throughout October, the Trust is celebrating how language, landscape and nature come together in art, photography, poetry, prose and spoken word. We are publishing online Wild Words - a great selection of nature writing and series of events that we hope will inspire people  to get closer to wild places.

“We are delighted to have Rob and Harriet join us at George Fisher at 7pm on Saturday 19 October, and hope to see lots of people bringing their creativity to our drop-in session afterwards.”

Rachel Kearns of George Fisher said: “We’re honoured to be supporting the John Muir Trust and the valuable work they are doing in the Lake District. Glenridding Common is literally our backyard and preserving and protecting these beautiful areas with their wealth of flora and fauna is so important to us.

“The Trust has given Fishers the privilege of hosting a great event that will bring together people from the community that help care for and share valuable insights into what we can all do to support this trust and their work”.

Rooted in the natural world, ‘somewhere-nowhere' celebrates the value of walking journeys and slow time outdoors, and has grown from a collaborative practice of photography and writing. Harriet and Rob use exploration, discovery and creativity to build connections between people and nature.

Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased online. The cost includes refreshments, as well as a discounted John Muir Trust membership.
