The ways we walk

Our pathwork is funded entirely from donations. Give something back to the places you love.

Paths offer us routes to adventure and ways to unwind, but it’s easy to take them for granted. Increasing footfall and rainfall can turn these paths into deep scars. Without the funds to manage our impact, these beautiful places don't have the chance to recover.

The ways we work

We repair and maintain 120km of paths, from the coastal trails of Skye and Sandwood to world famous mountain routes on Ben Nevis, Bla Bheinn and Schiehallion. Our pre-emptive approach to maintenance keeps trails wild and costs low. We need to continue this work, in all weathers, year in and year out.

Wild ways in wild places

Last year, we officially completed a £200,000 project with the Assynt Foundation to carry out repairs on Suilven, while in 2016, your donations allowed the Trust to quickly repair the Steall Gorge path in Glen Nevis after a major rockfall. We are currently continuing a programme of path repairs and improvements on Schiehallion, following a successful fundraising appeal.

How your support will help

Your donation will help care for and maintain paths through wild places, protecting fragile plants, animals and soils from erosion and disturbance. You'll be helping deliver local employment and training to volunteers, students and conservation groups and assist local communities in places like Knoydart and Assynt with their path repairs.
