Cononish Gold MinePublished: 7th February 2018
The John Muir Trust has commented on the latest proposal for the development of a gold mine at Cononish, near Tyndrum.
The Trust did not object to the 2011 planning application but has submitted comments on the latest design proposals.
The mine site impacts not only the National Park and the NSA but also encroaches into Wild Land Area 6 Ben Lui and therefore raises concerns. The Trust stresses the importance of mitigating the "remoteness and sanctuary of the eastern part of the WLA."
