Scottish Natural Heritage has a draft document 'Assessing the impact of repowered windfarms on nature' out for public consultation by 31 August 2018. The Trust's response is attached below.

“Repowering” refers to applications for a new windfarm, generally with bigger turbines, to replace a windfarm which has come to the end of its life.  It is critically important that this SNH proposal be confirmed - that the baseline used in Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments  for any repowered windfarm will be “the expected restored state of the site”.  The wind industry would prefer a baseline assessment using photographs which have the existing windfarm in situ.
