Updated 13 September 2017: The latest on the Coire Glas development and our original objection
Update 13 September 2017:- SSE announced in May 2017 that it is proposing to increase the generating/pumping capacity of the project from the consented 600MW up to around 1500MW to maximise the potential of the site. A scoping report has been submitted and Environmental Impact Assessment work is underway. A new application to the Scottish Government for consent is expected in December 2017. December 2013:- The scheme was approved by the Scottish Government in December 2013. We are disappointed that the government consented this major development without any Public Local Inquiry - this would have allowed detailed consideration of the environmental, social and public cost issues of this scheme and its impacts on deep peatland and neighbouring high quality wild land.
March 2012:- We expressed concern about proposals to construct a pumped storage hydroelectric generation station on land at Coire Glas, North Laggan and submitted an objection.
