Whitelaw Brae wind farmPublished: 9th August 2015
Read our objection to the application for a 14-turbine wind farm at Whitelaw Brae, 3km south of Tweedsmuir in the Scottish Borders.
We objected to the application for a 14-turbine wind farm at Whitelaw Brae in the Scottish Borders in January 2015. The development would be sited approximately 14km north of Moffat and 3km south of Tweedsmuir in the Scottish Borders and would comprise turbines of up to 133m high.
We believe the ‘’potential significant effects’’ on Wild Land Area 2 Talla – Hart Fell are grounds for refusal. We also raised concerns about the cumulative and landscape impact of the proposed development. We also consider that there is the potential for considerable damage to peatlands.
You can read our objection in the downloads below.
Scottish Borders Council planning committee unanimously agreed to object to the application at a meeting in early August 2015. A Public Local Inquiry took place, following which the application was approved by Scottish Ministers.
