The John Muir Birthplace Charitable Trust is a John Muir Trust partner based in Dunbar, East Lothian
In 1998 the John Muir Trust joined with East Lothian Council, Dunbar's John Muir Association (now Friends of John Muir's Birthplace) and Dunbar Community Council to form the John Muir Birthplace Charitable Trust (JMBCT).
The JMBCT purchased 126 High Street, Dunbar (the house in which John Muir was born) and turned it into an interpretative centre - John Muir's Birthplace - which opened in 2003.
The house tells the story of John Muir's early years, when he gained his great love of wild places and creatures, his later life in America and his lasting legacy as one of the world's leading conservationists.
Details about current exhibitions, events and activities at John Muir’s Birthplace are available on Facebook and What’s On.
