Wild Moment: Enid Forsyth

Enid celebrates the sounds of autumn visitors in her latest poems.

Loch in Autumn

Autumn day of living embers,
glowing warmth in every way.

Swans stretching to the horizon -
more than I can ever imagine.

Listen – soft bugling
rippling atop the waves.

Whooper swans
in conversation.

Goosemusic

Movement.  Look
again, searchingly.

In the fading light,
hundreds of shapes.

Did you see them?
In the salt marsh?

Then the form,
gloriously elongated.

Birds a-wing - calling,
calling, calling.

A score of geese inspiring
another score.

Sounds in my head
become dots on the page.

Twelve bars in and
more to go…

The sound that stirs
autumn is in my veins…
