John Muir Trust talks

We take our name and inspiration from John Muir, the Scots-born founder of the modern conservation movement. Muir was passionate about wild places and so are we.

If you have a passion for the great outdoors, a love for nature, an interest in wildlife or perhaps are intrigued about what a conservation charity does for the environment, we can present to your group.

What will the John Muir Trust present?

We can provide presentations about the history of the John Muir Trust and how the charity was founded by a small group of people determined to protect a special area of wild land. We'll also bring you up-to-date with all our activities including our campaigning work, our conservation efforts on the land and how we are encouraging thousands of people to engage with nature.

You may have a particular topic in mind for your group that you'd like us to discuss in more detail, for example how we helped get a map of official Wild Land Areas recognised by the Scottish Government or what we do to take care of the distinctive munro, Schiehallion. You might like to find out more about our engagement initiative and the £1.3 million of conservation activity that was undertaken by John Muir Award participants in 2016. We welcome all ideas and suggestions so please get in touch to find out more.

Who will the John Muir Trust visit?

Perhaps you organise a programme of talks for your Rotary Club, hillwalking group or conference and would like someone from the Trust to provide a talk. We have presented to various organisations and are keen to showcase our important work.

We have speakers across the UK so if your group is based in Lands End or John o'Groats, we will do our best to get to you. Check the Trust team to see if there is anyone you'd be most interested in hearing from.

How do I request a speaker?

If you would like to find out more, or request a speaker, then get in touch with Ross providing a few details about your group (size, location) and area of interest.
