Mountain woodland forms a transition habitat, beginning where the natural treeline ends, extending into higher alpine heath. This gift will support work on Schiehallion, Ben Nevis, and Helvellyn in the Lake District to regenerate mountain woodland species such as dwarf birch and downy willow, once common at high altitudes but now scarce due to grazing pressure.
