Field Notes: Reaching out in Wales

As the year draws to a close, our Wales John Muir Award Manager Carys Jones shares some of the great engagement the team has been doing in Wales.

Wales curriculum at the Senedd

The November launch of YHA’s refreshed strategy for Wales, at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay, provided a great opportunity to speak to John Muir Trust Members, past and current John Muir Award Providers, YHA trustees and officers, as well as Members of the Senedd. I was pleased to share copies of our Curriculum for Wales resource (pictured above) which has now been distributed to every school in Wales.

Meanwhile, in mid December, John Muir Award Officer (Wales) Kitty Cartwright had a great day with the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB Young Rangers who are working towards their John Muir Awards. The picture above shows the group coppicing hazel on the old Corwen - Cynwyd railway line, and the log store made out of the material they collected.
