Absolute Escapes Step Up for Wild Places for the second year
Award-winning tour operators Absolute Escapes have taken on our Step Up challenge for the second year, clocking up more than 1.3 million steps for wild places.
Back in July, longstanding John Muir Trust corporate partners Absolute Escapes completed our Step Up for Wild Places challenge for the second year in a row.
21 members of the Absolute Escapes team (pictured below) clocked up 1,391,372 steps during the working week of Monday 27th July to Friday 31st July.
The team set out to beat last year's achievement of one million steps and succeeded, 'climbing' the equivalent of Ben Nevis 46 times over in total.
Absolute Escapes raised £100 through their Step Up challenge. These funds will go directly toward our vital conservation work at Nevis, including peatland restoration, native tree planting, removal of invasive species and path repairs.
The team shared that they loved finding ways to fit more steps into their working day and getting their whole office involved, describing Step Up as a “brilliant team challenge” and a fun way to get more active during the week.
Daisy Andrews, Operations & Product Manager at Absolute Escapes, said: "We’re a team that thrives on a little friendly rivalry, and the Step Up challenge was the perfect opportunity to turn daily steps into a fun competition. We created a live leaderboard, kept tabs on everyone’s progress and cheered each other on - all while secretly trying to outpace our colleagues!"
Kate Brown, Senior Travel Specialist & Team Leader, said: "It was great to hear about how people were getting their steps in and maximising their time outside. Many people opted to go for walks at lunch together instead of sitting at the usual kitchen table in the office."
