Footpath Management PolicyPublished: 28th June 2015
The impact of a variety of factors will be considered in planning any path work or management on Trust land (adopted March 2011)
The Trust does not advocate the construction of new paths in or into wild land. There are 30–40 distinct paths on Trust land ranging from woodland walks and coastal routes to upland paths giving access to the summits of seven Munros and five Corbetts.
The Trust will maintain an ‘access neutral’ approach to path management on its land (i.e. maintain what is there rather than extend access). It will achieve this through sensitive low-key works on existing paths in order to prevent excessive wear and erosion of surrounding habitats, while keeping visual intrusion to a minimum. There is a presumption for minimum signage on paths.
