What are you fundraising for?

Below are the conservation activities your fundraising efforts will support:

  • Peatland restoration: Reviving degraded peatlands to enhance carbon storage, reduce flooding, and support biodiversity.
  • Native tree planting: Establishing resilient woodlands to improve habitats and sequester carbon.
  • Habitat monitoring: Tracking wildlife and ecosystem health to guide conservation strategies.
  • Path maintenance: Building and repairing trails to minimise erosion and enabling people to access wild places.
  • Invasive species removal: Eradicating non-native plants to preserve native biodiversity.
  • Supporting local employment: Enabling rural communities access to employment opportunities
  • Provision of tools and equipment: Supplying necessary resources to carry out vital conservation tasks effectively.

These activities are tailored to meet the unique needs of each of the landscapes we care for. Here’s how your support will make a difference in each of our project areas:

Ben Nevis

Your support will directly contribute to vital conservation work across the land we manage at Nevis. This includes native tree planting, peatland restoration, and repair and maintenance of upland paths. Your funds will also support local and rural employment, habitat and wildlife monitoring (including equipment), outdoor learning, volunteering programmes, PPE and vehicles, and the repair of the iconic Steall Bridge.

Schiehallion

Your funds will go towards the regeneration and restoration of near-extinct native mountain woodland on the eastern slopes of Schiehallion. This will be made possible through the creation of a protective boundary fence, shielding young saplings and trees from grazing pressures. The project will also increase and enhance unique flora and fauna in mountain habitats that have been damaged by decades of overgrazing. We will closely monitor the woodland’s natural regeneration over time.

 Helvellyn

Your funds will go towards our water resilience project that we work with Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Natural England, and United Utilities on. The overarching goal is to create a more resilient catchment, better equipped to withstand the effects of climate change and secure better raw water quality. The aims are to increase carbon sequestration, improve water quality, and increase biodiversity. Your funds will support conservation activities such as montane tree propagation through our tree nursery, habitat restoration, tree maintenance, volunteering, community engagement, and local employment.

Bla Bheinn, Skye

Your support will fund critical conservation work on Skye, including the maintenance and re-establishment of native woodlands, peatland restoration, upland path repairs, and removal of invasive species. Your contribution will also support wildlife and habitat monitoring, volunteering programmes, PPE, vehicles, machinery, and essential maintenance materials.
