Celebrate National Parks this Easter

Our John Muir Award Manager in Cumbria, Graham Watson, encourages everyone thinking about visiting a National Park this Easter to do something new and share their story.

In the run up to #JohnMuirDay - the 184th birthday of 'father of national parks' John Muir - reflecting on John Muir’s role in the birth of the world wide National Park family would be a great place to start.

While not everyone will set out on their own walk as John Muir across the Cairngorms, as Cairngorm National Park John Muir Award officer Al Smith did in 2013, you could get involved and plan a John Muir Award experience in a National Park.

The John Muir Trust has partnerships with three National Parks – Cairngorms, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and the Lake District National Park, but many other national parks also support the John Muir Award – to find them go to your chosen National Park website and search John Muir Award. Or you can find out more about the John Muir Award on our website here.

So during the 2022 Discover National Parks Fortnight (2-18 April) why not try something new in a National Park? Share your story with UKNP’s tag #GreenSpaceStories and tag #JohnMuirTrust as well so we can follow your journey.
