Pedal to Paris challenge for wild places

Father and son cycle 300 miles to Paris raising over £5k for wild places.

The Trust’s work in wild places received a major boost thanks to Paul and Louis Flood’s fundraising cycle challenge this summer.

Braving July’s heatwaves, Paul and his son Louis cycled from London to Paris in four days raising £5,378.60 to help the Trust care for some of the UK's most wonderful wild places, including Ben Nevis, Skye and Schiehallion.

Schiehallion has a special meaning for the pair. They have climbed the ‘fairy hill’ many times, during visits to family members who live nearby.

Paul said fundraising for the Trust by doing the 300-mile cycle challenge together was fantastic and enjoyable: “We are very grateful to all our friends and family that helped us raise money for a wonderful cause, particularly as Louis' grandmother lives in Kinloch Rannoch. We have climbed Schiehallion many a time, so very grateful for all the work the Trust does for conservation of wild places. 

“Louis really cares about nature and wanted to donate to John Muir Trust given the work you do, and the time he has spent in Kinloch Rannoch and climbing Schiehallion and seeing the ptarmigans!"
