Trust wins TGO ‘Outdoor Campaigner of the Year' Award
For the second year running, the public has voted for the Trust to win a The Great Outdoors Award for its campaigning work
The Trust has topped a poll of thousands of online voters across the UK to win the prestigious ‘Outdoor Campaigner of the Year’ title.
The annual competition is hosted by the leading mountaineering and hillwalking magazine, TGO. The results were announced at The Great Outdoors Awards ceremony, held in the Lake District on 18 November as part of the Kendal Mountain Festival.
Around 100 people attended the event, including some of the UK’s top mountaineers, writers and photographers, as well as retailers, outdoor gear manufacturers and tourism businesses.
Helen McDade (pictured left, below), who accepted the award on behalf of the Trust from TGO editor Emily Rodway, said: “We’re delighted to win this accolade, which has come hard on the heels of a succession of milestone victories in our long term campaign to protect wild land in Scotland.
“We’d like to express our gratitude to our members and supporters, who have helped us make such spectacular progress over the past year, and thank everyone who took the time to vote for us in this poll.”
