Apply to be the Community Representative

The John Muir Trust are recruiting a Community Representative to support the development of a project at Strathaird and on the surrounding land the Trust manages on the Isle of Skye.

The role will be part of a working group that oversees the project and co-opted as a Trustee. The ideal postholder will help share the different perspectives of local people to inform any proposals. The working group will provide advice and recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the John Muir Trust. 

How to apply

Please share in no more than 500 words your reasons for applying to be the Community Representative. Please include information on:

  • Your ability to commit to the role for an initial period of one year, attending 4-6 meetings throughout the year.
  • Your connection to the local area, including the length of time you have lived in the local area
  • Your level of understanding of crofting legislation and or experience of crofting
  • Whether you are already a member and or are willing to join the Trust as a member (NB. This is required to be co-opted as a Trustee onto the working group).

Next steps

The Trust will review all applications in October and respond to all those who have applied as soon as possible.

It is expected that the Working Group will commence by November 2022.
