Trust concerned over Dumfries and Galloway transmission line plans
The Trust joins campaigners and 42 Community Councils in expressing concern over proposal for major transmission line
The Trust joins local campaigners and 42 Community Councils in expressing concern in a Scottish Power Energy Networks consultation about the current proposal for a major 400kV transmission line in Dumfries & Galloway.
Helen McDade, head of policy at the Trust, said: "The case for this is not made and we will seek proper consideration of more sensitive proposals which would fulfil any need for an upgrade.
"Using experience we gained during the Beauly-Denny Public Local Inquiry of a similar 400kV electricity line passing through a National Park, we will push for proper consideration of the costs, technical case and environmental impacts on sensitive nationally important landscapes."
